Configure Text-to-Speech settings to have MultitaskAI read messages aloud

Text-to-Speech

MultitaskAI includes a powerful Text-to-Speech feature that allows you to listen to chat messages instead of reading them. This feature uses your browser's built-in Web Speech API to convert text to natural-sounding speech, making it perfect for multitasking or accessibility needs.

Enabling Text-to-Speech

To start using Text-to-Speech, visit https://app.multitaskai.com/settings/text-to-speech and enable the feature using the toggle switch. Once activated, you'll notice a play button appearing to the left of each message in your chats. Simply click this button to have the message read aloud, and click again to stop playback.

Customization Options

MultitaskAI offers several ways to customize the Text-to-Speech experience:

  1. Voice Selection: Choose from a variety of system voices available on your device. Different voices offer various accents, genders, and speaking styles to match your preference.

  2. Speech Rate: Adjust how quickly or slowly the text is read. The default rate of 1.0 represents normal speaking speed, but you can slow it down (values below 1.0) or speed it up (values above 1.0) to suit your listening comfort.

  3. Pitch Control: Fine-tune the pitch of the voice to make it sound higher or lower. The default pitch of 1.0 uses the voice's natural tone, while adjusting between 0.8 and 1.2 helps achieve the most natural-sounding results.

Browser Compatibility

Text-to-Speech functionality relies on your browser's Web Speech API support. Most modern browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge fully support this feature. If the Text-to-Speech option appears disabled, you may need to update your browser to a newer version.
