Text-to-Speech
Configure Text-to-Speech settings to have MultitaskAI read messages aloud
Text-to-Speech
MultitaskAI includes powerful Text-to-Speech features that allow you to listen to chat messages instead of reading them. You can choose between your browser's built-in Web Speech API or OpenAI's Text-to-Speech technology for natural-sounding speech output, making it perfect for multitasking or accessibility needs.
Enabling Text-to-Speech
To start using Text-to-Speech, visit https://app.multitaskai.com/settings/text-to-speech and enable the feature using the toggle switch. You can choose between Browser TTS and OpenAI TTS as your preferred provider. Once activated, you'll notice a play button appearing to the left of each message in your chats. Simply click this button to have the message read aloud, and click again to stop playback.
Browser TTS Customization Options
When using Browser TTS, MultitaskAI offers several ways to customize the Text-to-Speech experience:
-
Voice Selection: Choose from a variety of system voices available on your device. Different voices offer various accents, genders, and speaking styles to match your preference.
-
Speech Rate: Adjust how quickly or slowly the text is read. The default rate of 1.0 represents normal speaking speed, but you can slow it down (values below 1.0) or speed it up (values above 1.0) to suit your listening comfort.
-
Pitch Control: Fine-tune the pitch of the voice to make it sound higher or lower. The default pitch of 1.0 uses the voice's natural tone, while adjusting between 0.8 and 1.2 helps achieve the most natural-sounding results.
OpenAI Text-to-Speech
MultitaskAI also supports OpenAI's advanced Text-to-Speech technology, which provides high-quality, natural-sounding voice output. This feature is available to users with an OpenAI API key configured in their settings. OpenAI TTS offers consistent, high-quality voice output across all devices and browsers, without the need for customization.
Browser Compatibility
Text-to-Speech functionality relies on your browser's Web Speech API support when using Browser TTS. Most modern browsers like Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge fully support this feature. If the Browser TTS option appears disabled, you may need to update your browser to a newer version. OpenAI TTS works consistently across all modern browsers.
